March for Fear / Sketchcrawl 30-oct-10 11/01/2010
Spent Saturday afternoon at the National Mall for the March for Fear/Rally to Restore Sanity. Did a little sketching, although I didn't meet up with the DC Sketchcrawl group. The Mall was packed. Lots of fun just reading the various cause signs the protesters were carrying. One guy was protesting lactose intolerance, and a woman had a sign that said "Stop the Screaming" with Edward Munch's Scream image on it. I saw protester in a banana suit, 4 singing and dancing robots, a legalize pot protester, muliple tree roosting protesters, and some tea pot signs. Great, fun atmosphere among the crowd too. Saturday night I went to the Ofrenda Day of the Dead festival in Old Town Alexandria. Listened to music by a the Hootenannys live band at the Torpedoe Factory and wandered around with some wine enjoying the artist studios. Then watched the fesitval parade as it ended up in the Torpedoe Factory. Cost me all of $2 for parking in the city parking garage under Market square too. Add Comment |
